SUMMARY:UK’s 6G Achievements and Experimental Platforms
DESCRIPTION:First webinar of the SNS CSA CO-OP Series organised by the 6G-IA\n  \nABOUT\nThe Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) is at the forefront of driving innovation in next-generation communication technologies and services across Europe. At the same time\, various national initiatives in Europe are actively advancing 6G technologies and smart services. The SNS JU plays a pivotal role in fostering collaboration between these national initiatives and SNS projects by facilitating the exchange of best practices\, research findings\, and results. \n  \nAs highlighted in the recently published SNS R&I Work Programme 2025 (SNS WP 2025)\, the SNS JU actively encourages the integration of results and experimental platforms from national initiatives into its calls. This approach ensures that Europe remains competitive in the global technology race by effectively pooling expertise and resources across national and EU levels. Furthermore\, it supports the EU’s strategic goals of digital sovereignty and technological independence by fostering a cohesive and collaborative research and innovation ecosystem. \n  \nIn alignment with these goals\, and as part of the SNS CSA CO-OP project\, 6G-IA is organizing a series of webinars where various national initiatives will showcase their key achievements and share information about their experimental platforms. The first webinar in this series is scheduled to take place on 24 January 2025\, from 11:00 to 12:30 CET\, featuring an in-depth presentation of the UK’s 6G R&I activities and platforms. \n  \n\n  \nEvent programme:\n\n\n\n\n	Time (CET)TopicSpeaker\n\n\n\n\n	11:00 - 11:056G IA Welcome and IntroductionColin Willcock\, 6G-IA Chairman\, SNS JU Vice-Chairman\n\n\n	11:05 - 11:15UK Government’s Vision and Ambition for International Collaboration in 6G and Future Networks R&D&IRepresentative from the Department of Science Innovation and Technology (DSIT)\n\n\n	11:15 - 11:30Key 6G and Beyond Research PlatformsProf. Harald Haas\, University of Cambridge\n\n\n	11:30 - 11:50Large Investments in Test and Experimentation Platforms: UKTL\, SONIC\, JOINER\, NDFFProf. Dimitra Simeonidou\, University of Bristol\n\n\n	11:50 - 12:056G Industry R&D Ecosystem in the UKDan Warren\, Samsung\n\n\n	12:05 - 12:30Audience Q&A-\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n  \nEvent Video recording:\nhttps://smart-networks.europa.eu/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/uk-based-6g-testing-and-experimentation-platforms-for-sns-20250124-1129-1.mp4\n  \n
