The #1 SUNRISE-6G Hackathon is taking place alongside the prestigious IEEE NFV-SDN 2025 Conference on 12 November 2025, in Athens, Greece.
This hands-on event aims to bring together testbed owners, developers, researchers, and technical experts from across Europe to explore collaborative opportunities and contribute to the development of federated 6G experimentation infrastructures.
The SUNRISE-6G Hackathon aims to identify and integrate at least 2 new testbeds into the project’s Experimentation Portal, a key component of its mission to deliver a scalable, standards-compliant, and open 6G testing environment spanning Europe. Application developers and experimenters are invited to develop simple applications with CAMARA APIs exposed by project testbeds through the ETSI OpenOP (https://oop.etsi.org/) and show what they can do with CAMARA QoD, location, and Edge Application management APIs!
Participants will work closely with SUNRISE-6G’s technical team to:
- Understand the integration process
- Learn how to develop with cutting edge CAMARA APIs
- Explore platform interfaces and APIs
- Assess compliance and interoperability
- Receive real-time coaching and feedback.
SUNRISE-6G is a flagship project funded under the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU). It federates 14 testbeds across 8 EU member states, offering a rich ecosystem for AI-native, 3GPP-compliant, and virtualised 6G experimentation.
Who Should Join?
- Testbed and/or infrastructure owners in Europe
- Research labs and universities with network experimentation facilities
- Developers and researchers with an interest in CAMARA APIs
- SMEs and startups in the telecom or edge computing space.
Whether part of an SNS JU project, a national initiative, or an independent effort, participants will gain direct access to integration support and visibility across the SUNRISE-6G and SNS JU ecosystems.
Why Join?
- Be among the first external testbeds to join the SUNRISE-6G Federation
- Showcase your infrastructure at an international IEEE event
- Get technical onboarding and support
- Receive recognition, visibility, and collaboration opportunities.
