IEEE Future Networks World Forum 2024, to be held in Dubai, UAE, 15-17 October
15 October 2024 - 17 October 2024
IEEE Future Networks World Forum is proud to announce that the IEEE FNWF’24 will be hosting a series of symposiums on emerging topics in future networking technologies. These symposiums will provide an excellent opportunity for those who wish to showcase their work and get recognized for their work. They will provide a platform to discuss the latest advances and explore new ideas to develop and deploy future-generation communication networks. The IEEE FNWF’24 welcomes participation worldwide, and the symposiums intend to bring the latest future network technologies to the forefront.
Title: OPTICAL-WIRELESS CONVERGENCE: BEYOND XHAUL, ENABLING THE COMMUNICATIONS-COMPUTING CONTINUUM
Date: 17th of October 2024
Chair, Organizer: Jorge Pereira, EC
Abstract:
With the accelerating deployment of 5G NR and with the advent of the so-called Communications-Computing continuum, the role of optical in providing more than just backbone capacity is becoming critical. This Symposium will provide a first glimpse at the challenges in this area. A number of EU-funded projects in the context of 5G PPP and 6G SNS JU will present their approach and achievements thus far.
Topics of interest:
Areas to be addressed include, but are not limited to:
chip, components and antennas
in-chip opto-electrical integration
Xhaul; from GPON to TPON
remoting of BS/AP, Open-RAN
Edge computing and MEC
Agenda Session: “From RAN Disaggregation to 3Cs”
