IMAGINE B5G Open Calls, a successful process with more than 40 projects
______
Imagine-B5G is working to provide an advanced and accessible end-to-end (E2E) 5G platform for large-scale trials and pilots in Europe. For this reason, the project is leveraging four advanced 5G experimental facilities in Norway, Spain, Portugal, and France. These facilities are already and will continue to, during the project’s lifetime and through Open Calls, on-board third parties (e.g., SMEs, industry, and researchers) to collaborate in vertical experiments (VE) and platform extensions (PE) through pilots and trials.
The project has been working on seven verticals and corresponding stakeholders related to PPDR, media, education, smart agriculture & forestry, eHealth, transportation & logistics, and Industry 4.0, which are experiencing and testing their use cases on the IMAGINE-B5G platform.
The first open-call selected 15 selected projects which started their work in November 2023. In the first open-call, third-parties were invited to present proposals: (i) to test and validate their novel vertical applications through pilots and trials on the IMAGINE-B5G facilities and (ii) to provide novel features through Hardware and Software extensions to the IMAGINE-B5G facilities thanks to the openness of the IMAGINE-B5G framework.
Imagine-B5G’s Second Open Call resulted in 68 submissions and was able to fund 15 projects in October 2024. In Open-Call 2, projects were given up to 12 months to carry out projects related to (i) novel vertical applications and (ii) platform extensions, with a maximum budget of up to €100.000 per project with one partner and up to €140.000 per project with two partners. Open-call 2 projects will benefit from a higher maturity level of the IMAGINE-B5G framework and platform. The third open call was published in October 2024. 14 projects were selected.
