With nearly 20 years of experience in the telecommunication sector, Erzsébet Fitori has been appointed as the new Executive Director of the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking by its Governing Board.

27 new R&I and trial projects were selected and are about to be launched

The Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) has announced the 27 winners of its second call for proposals, with a €130 million funding boost.

6G IA Position Paper: Key Strategies for 6G Smart Networks and Services

This paper presents a set of key strategic reflections and recommendations for 6G Smart Networks and Services, capturing the views and priorities from the members of the 6G-IA.

This document will be used to further elaborate future versions of the SNS JU Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) as well as the R&I Work Programmes. It also offers directions for collaboration opportunities for European Stakeholders that go beyond the scope of the SNS JU.

Status of SNS OpenCalls

A number of the SNS JU phase 1 projects are planning to run open calls to either augment or validate the capabilities, functionalities and performance of their experimental platforms or to add use cases to their portfolio of demonstrated services.

IS-Wireless joins the Dutch consortium to set the foundations for 6G in Europe

A consortium of private companies and academic facilities join forces to research the sixth generation of mobile networks.

The Future Network Services (FNS) project will be backed by at least 61 million EUR granted by the Dutch National Growth Fund. The consortium aims to take position in determining the development of 6G globally, work on setting the foundation for 6G standards in order to meet the social requirements in terms of reliability, digital sovereignty and sustainability as well as to develop a strong Dutch 6G ecosystem.

First IAFA Report

The first IAFA event, Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH), to strengthen knowledge exchange with the SNS community and collaboration event, occurred online on Thursday, 5 October 2023. The DIH aims to facilitate the digitalisation of European industry in the context of the Digital Europe Programme. SCoDIHNet (Smart Connectivity Digital Innovation Hub Network) is a network of DIHs with expertise in Smart Connectivity (5G/6G, IoT, Security).

Networld Europe outlines 6G research and innovation priorities

Networld Europe, an ICT technology platform in Europe, has helped the EU Commission write the next ICT work programme by offering its Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) as a baseline document and European take on necessary technology areas representing the views of more than 1000 members of Networld Europe. The objective of this task is also to make Information and Communications Technology research, development, and innovation (R&D&I) more available throughout all of Europe for both citizens and businesses.
