Date: Tuesday, 22 September 2026
Time: 09:30–12:00 CEST / 15:30–18:00 Taiwan Time (GMT+8)
Organised by: 6G-IA and the Taiwan 6G Industry Forum (6GIF), as part of the international engagement activities of SNS CO-OP
Europe and Taiwan are both moving from 6G research towards large-scale validation, and both bring complementary strengths to that transition, from advanced semiconductors and photonics to AI-native network design, spectrum innovation and experimental infrastructures. Following the recent Memorandum of Understanding between 6G-IA and 6GIF, the two associations are jointly organising the EU–Taiwan 6G Joint Workshop on 22 September 2026, ahead of the Taipei 6G Summit.
The workshop brings together the European and Taiwanese 6G research and innovation communities for a focused technical exchange. Rather than two separate sets of presentations, the programme is built around four jointly agreed topics, with experts from both regions presenting on the same theme back-to-back and then discussing together. The aim is a genuine exchange of status, results and insights (and a clear view of where the strongest opportunities for EU–Taiwan cooperation lie).
Speakers are drawn from the SNS JU and 6G-IA Working Groups on the European side and from industry, academia and ITRI on the Taiwanese side, giving participants a broad picture of ongoing activities in both regions.
Main topics will cover:
Programme
Opening remarks | DG CONNECT, Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs (DoIT), 6G-IA, 6GIF
Keynote: European 6G research update | 6G-IA
Keynote: Taiwan 6G research update | 6GIF / ITRI
Technology Insights Exchange Session | EU and Taiwanese experts across the four topics above
Open discussion and Q&A
Closing remarks | 6G-IA and 6GIF
Who should attend
The workshop is open to all interested participants. It is particularly relevant to representatives of industry, academia and research organisations, network operators, system integrators, semiconductor companies and equipment vendors, and to members of the European and Taiwanese 6G communities looking for partners for future joint activities.
Beyond the technical programme, the workshop is intended as a matchmaking opportunity: participants are encouraged to use the discussion slots and the networking around the event to identify potential collaborators and to lay the groundwork for strong bilateral consortia.
